When life gets in the way, what do you do? Real life stuff has seriously kicked my butt this past week, and if you read my blog on a regular basis you may have noticed that I didn’t post on Wednesday or Friday.
If you read my May Goals Post, you saw that I wanted to blog at least three times a week this month. Obviously, that hasn’t happened. There are quite a few other goals, on that post, that haven’t happened, but we’re not going to talk about them. A lot of times if people set goals and don’t hit them, it causes them to give up. Honestly, that’s usually me. I’m not lying when I say that blogging is a lot more work than I thought it would be, especially when recipes are involved. There’s the time required to bake it, write the post, create the social media images and then the time spent promoting that blog post. With everything going on, it would be easy to say that I don’t have time and I should just stop for a while, but I’m not going to do that. With the last day of school coming up, on Thursday, it’s going to get even harder to find the time.
Instead of giving up, I’m going to sit down with my boys and we are going to work on a summer schedule. One that will give us time to do fun things, but also give me the time I need to continue growing my blog. I may even figure out a way to get them involved, so they can help.
But in all truth, if things get too busy and I don’t have enough time to do something with my blog, I’m going to be ok with that. I’m going to give myself the grace to not be perfect and just roll with the punches. After all, I want to make memories with my boys this summer. I don’t want them looking back on this summer and saying I was always on the computer and didn’t have time to spend with them. And that’s one of the perks of being your own boss, right? With that said, not only do I need to work on a summer schedule with them, I also need to sit down and figure out how to make the most of my time. This may mean longer nights. It may mean getting up earlier in the morning (please God, NO!) and it may mean devoting one day a week to work on numerous posts at once.
Please share any tips and tricks you have that help you get everything done! I could really use the help!
