Top 5 April Favorites and May Goals

April 30, 2017 · 5 Comments

Is it just me or does this year seem to be flying by?  I can’t believe it’s going to be May 1st tomorrow!  Which means it’s that time of the month again.  Time to share my favorites from this month and my goals for next month.

Watercolor Flower DIY Sharpie Mug by A Piece of Rainbow

When I saw this tutorial, I knew I needed to make these.  I love the way these turned out, and while I don’t think I’m quite talented enough to do the watercolor flowers, I still think this is a great tutorial to make personalized mugs.  I think this will have to go on my list of things to do with the boys this summer.  Maybe I’ll even get a head start on Christmas and make some as gifts for my annual cookie exchange.

Book Page Wreath by Extraordinarily Nice

Maggie has recently started a YouTube channel and has a series called “Maggie Tries DIY”.  When I saw this book page wreath, I fell in love.  I love to read, so this wreath is totally something I would hang in my house.  It would pain me to tear up a book, but considering we have a local used bookstore that has a stack of damaged books that they give away for free, it wouldn’t make me feel as bad.  Since Maggie scored a copy of Gone with the Wind, that she used for this wreath, and has plenty of pages left over, I’m hoping she’ll just make one for me and I don’t have to!  Make sure you subscribe to Maggie’s channel so you get notified when she posts a new video!  She has recently done videos on how to make concrete planters, Shrinky Dink jewelry and I may or may not be making an appearance in a future video!

Freemason to Mansion

Oh my goodness!  This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever come across!  If you are a fan of architecture, renovations or anything that is awesome, you have to check this out.  A family recently bought this 20,000 square foot Freemason building and they are turning one floor into their home and trying to decide what to do with the rest of it.  They have a video up on their Facebook page where they did a walk through of the whole place.  It lasts about 40 minutes but it’s so neat to see.  I’m definitely following along so I can see what they end up doing!  They also have a blog and Instagram account, so make sure you check those out, too!

Teavana

Well, I’ve done it.  I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole of hot tea.  While at the mall, with Jordan, we walked past Teavana and decided to try some samples of the tea they had out.  I grew up in the south, and the only tea you would ever see me drinking was sweet tea.  I’ve tried hot tea before, but it never really tasted that good to me because it wasn’t sweet.  Well, I tried this Lavender Creme tea and fell in love.  Apparently, they had used Belgian rock sugar to sweeten it.  And I decided I could get behind the way this tasted!  Not to mention how good it smelled!!

While I didn’t buy the whole tin that day, I did buy a starter set that included the Perfectea Maker, an empty tin and my choice of either an 8-ounce package of Belgian rock sugar or a stainless steel teaspoon.  Since I already own a teaspoon, I went with the sugar.  I was really amazed by the Perfectea Maker, so the bundle deal was a no brainer.  I bought 2 ounces of the Lavender Creme tea, to add to my tin, and headed home.  I knew I would be back soon because I signed up for the email list to get a $10 coupon to use on my next purchase of $30 or more.  The sign at the store said the Lavender Creme was a limited edition flavor, so I knew I needed to get a tin soon!  I have since gone back and bought a tin, along with 2 ounces of the Tranquil Dream tea, because I really need something that will help me sleep!

There is a good chance I will be starting a YouTube channel, in the fall, and will be talking about how awesome the Perfectea Maker is and how to use it.  If you want to get one of your own, or any of the delicious tea that Teavana offers, just click one of the pictures above!

Argo Tea

Not only did I get hooked on the Teavana tea, but I got roped in by a Costco sample.  Well, not just one sample, but multiple samples.  I’m probably the only person that doesn’t like it when Costco gives out free samples because I always end up buying more than I had planned to.  And usually the samples I fall in love with are things that are only going to be in the store for a limited time, like this tea.  Not only is this tea delicious, but it comes in a reusable glass container!  I love the shape of the container and plan to use them for some homemade gifts!

May Goals

I’m not going to lie, when it came to my April goals they pretty much went down the toilet.  I’ve realized that I really need to write them down somewhere I can see them every day.  I think I probably also need to set up a daily habit tracker so I can track my progress throughout the month.  Because I did so badly on my goals, last month, a lot of them will be the same this month, with a few changes.

Personal Goals

  • Practice Spanish at least 15 minutes a day with Duolingo.
  • Be consistent with meal planning and don’t eat out more than once a week.  To keep consistent with this, I plan to start posting weekly meal plans on Monday.
  • Track what I eat and work out at least 30 minutes a day, with one rest day a week.  I’ll more than likely start doing TurboFire again.
  • Go to bed before 12 am.
  • Make sure the sink has no dishes in it before I go to bed.  The last week of the month I have accomplished this.  Now I just need to stick with it!
  • Wash and put away at least one load of laundry a day.  As of this post, all of my laundry is finally caught up.  I plan to keep it that way!
  • Declutter mine and the boys’ clothing and decide what to keep and what to donate.

Blog Goals

  • Blog on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
  • Figure out consistent branding.
  • Read at least one blog related article a day.
  • Be consistent with posting on my FB page.
